FREE Mural Workshop in partnership with MoMA by Rebecca Goyette

LP and MoMA are teaming up and asking for you to work with us and create a mural on the wall of Five Points. The Five Points building has a long history of being a site for public art and fabulous graffiti.  We together, will have a chance to make our mark on this ever-changing art building that is the home of many artist’s studios, galleries and of course, Local Projects. Artist and Museum Educator from MoMA, Rebecca Goyette, will introduce the class with a survey of contemporary wall-based public works by artists including Keith Haring, Swoon, Bansky and Kara Walker as well as leading a walking tour/brainstorm throughout the site of Five Points itself. Our group will then design a collective project and create stencils to help us realize our large-scale public work. The theme of our mural will loosely be based around the idea of the “Block Party” for which Local Projects is famous for: where spinning records, projecting images and videos, hosting art and music events brings vibrant, dynamic energy to the neighborhood.
